Nobody with money is paying for the jacket. They are paying for what the jacket says when they walk into the room. The object is the cheapest, most replaceable part of the transaction, and the moment you sell it as an object, you have agreed to compete on price.

The operators who win understand the purchase was never the item. It was the standing, the signal, the version of themselves the buyer steps into. That is not a feature you list; it is an outcome you sell.

**The steal:** describe the after, not the thing. Not the material and the specs, but the room they walk into, the impression they leave, the status the purchase confirms. Sell the change and price stops being the conversation.

The myth this ends: that better features win. Features invite comparison, and comparison is a race to the bottom. Sell the change and you set the number, while the competition is still arguing about thread count.

## The takeaway

Stop selling the product. Sell the standing. Then you name the price.
