PepsiCo, Mars, and Hershey are shipping product directly through TikTok Shop, testing the platform as a fulfillment channel rather than simply running ads on it, according to Marketing Dive. The brands are treating TikTok Shop as what the trade press calls "a frontier for innovation" — a distribution play, not a creator-spend line item.

The mechanics matter. TikTok Shop lets brands list inventory, fulfill orders in-app, and close the sale without sending traffic off-platform. A user watches a creator demo a Mars bar in a live stream, taps the product tag, completes checkout inside TikTok, and receives the bar in the mail. No Amazon handoff. No brand site redirect. The brand ships, TikTok collects the transaction fee, the creator earns a commission. Marketing Dive reports these CPG companies are "beginning to more heavily" test this model, language that signals budget allocation and internal priority.

This works because it collapses the gap between stimulus and purchase. Traditional social-to-commerce requires a user to remember the product name, navigate to a retailer, search, and convert. Every step bleeds intent. TikTok Shop removes four of those steps. The product appears in-feed, the creator demonstrates use, the buy button sits three millimeters from the video. Impulse converts at the moment of peak interest. For shelf-stable, low-consideration goods — candy, chips, beverages — the model aligns with how the product is already bought: on sight, on impulse, at checkout.

The brand also captures first-party transaction data it does not own when the same product moves through Walmart or 7-Eleven. TikTok Shop returns purchase records, SKU velocity, and customer emails. That data feeds product development, reorder campaigns, and retention math the brand controls.

The steal for a small physical-product brand: list your core SKU on TikTok Shop, seed five micro-creators with free product and a **10% commission offer**, and script a **15-second use demo** they can film in one take. Do not ask for a brand video. Ask for a problem-solution hook: "I keep [problem] until I found [your product]." The creator posts, tags your product, and you fulfill through TikTok's logistics partner or your own **3PL with TikTok Shop integration**. Cost to test: product cost plus TikTok's transaction fee (typically **5-8%** of sale price) plus creator commission. No media buy required.

Run this with **three creators in week one**. Track which video drives sales, double the commission for that creator in week two, and send them **three more units to demo** in different contexts. Let the creator iterate the hook. If a single creator drives **$500 in product sales** in two weeks, you have a repeatable channel. Scale by adding one creator per week, filtering for conversion rate, not follower count.

The broader pattern: when CPG majors test a platform as fulfillment infrastructure, they are signaling a belief that the channel will carry transaction volume, not just awareness. They do not ship product to platforms that lack buyer intent. TikTok Shop is being treated as a register, not a billboard.

## The takeaway

TikTok Shop is a fulfillment channel now — test it with micro-creators, commission splits, and product you already stock.
