But most direct mail is still generic. The brands winning are the ones who segment the list, design for the segment, and write copy that sounds personal. (This is the part that gets the opens.)\n[ your take… ]\n———\nHere is a real one you can run this week 👇\nPer BN Opinions, direct mail pieces that stand out in design, align message to audience segment, and avoid generic copy are the drivers of measurable lift in response rates.\nHere's the cool part — the lever almost everyone misses (and you don't have to): before you print direct mail, segment your list by behavior (repeat buyers vs. cold prospects, by product category interest, by geography) and design separate creative for each segment. Print is expensive; targeting inside the print run is cheaper than volume alone. The mechanism is that a repeat buyer seeing 'you've bought X, try Y' converts harder than a cold prospect seeing 'buy now.' Design should break the mailbox norm—bold color, die-cut shapes, textures—because the first filter is 'is this worth opening?' If it doesn't break the pile, it never reaches the copy.\nWhat that means for you: Direct mail is having a moment because email inboxes are full and TikTok feeds are noisy. But most direct mail is still generic. The brands winning are the ones who segment the list, design for the segment, and write copy that sounds personal. This is the inverse of spray-and-pray—it's surgical. Smaller print runs, higher segmentation, better design. More expensive per piece, but response rates justify it.\nIf you make, sell, or gift anything with your name on it — this is yours to run. You can do this.\n(Real, not theory — BN Opinions: http://www.bing.com/news/apiclick.aspx?ref=FexRss&aid=&tid=6a9ed1ac034040d0975cb223c2f35c79&url=https%3a%2f%2fbnonews.com%2findex.php%2f2026%2f09%2f6-direct-mail-printing-tips-to-boost-your-response-rates%2f&c=5478582063147605427&mkt=en-us.)\n———\nOr — want it built FOR you?
