Nuuly went the opposite direction — fewer ads, one good story. The microdrama play is not new, but it is rare to see a mid-size brand commit to it for fall. The beauty is that if the series is good, the algorithm does part of your seeding for you. That said, this only works if the story is actually interesting. (This is the part that gets the opens.)\n[ your take… ]\n———\nHere is a real one you can run this week 👇\nPer Marketing Dive, Nuuly (Urban Outfitters-owned rental service) shifted its fall campaign from influencer seeding to a branded web series examining modern dating, targeting high-growth audience fatigue.\nHere's the cool part — the lever almost everyone misses (and you don't have to): most social ads are boring because they feel like ads. Nuuly skipped the middle step and made entertainment. A five-episode web series about dating is inherently social-shareable and does not feel like a catalog. The production cost is lower than a national influencer seeding budget, and the content lives longer (a series gets rewatched, shared, and clipped; a creator post dies in 48 hours). The play: if you are in apparel, accessories, or lifestyle, write a three-to-five-episode short series (5–10 min each) that your customer wants to watch for reasons other than the product. Distribute on YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram. Seed to micro-creators who recommend the series as entertainment, not product. Track views, shares, and repeat watches before measuring product conversion.\nWhat that means for you: Ad fatigue is real, and most brands respond by buying more ads. Nuuly went the opposite direction — fewer ads, one good story. The microdrama play is not new, but it is rare to see a mid-size brand commit to it for fall. The beauty is that if the series is good, the algorithm does part of your seeding for you. That said, this only works if the story is actually interesting. If it feels like a 22-minute product placement, it will fail.\nIf you make, sell, or gift anything with your name on it — this is yours to run. You can do this.\n(Real, not theory — Marketing Dive: https://www.marketingdive.com/news/why-nuuly-is-betting-on-a-microdrama-for-its-social-first-fall-campaign/828301/.)\n———\nOr — want it built FOR you?
