Braveheart Bio raises $382M in biotech IPO, clinical data now table stakes

Mid-stage trial results before debut signal new baseline for public biotech — no preclinical pitches.

Braveheart Bio priced its initial public offering at $382 million, the largest biotech IPO in sixteen months and the anchor of a week that saw $847 million flow into four new biotech listings. The company develops myosin inhibitors for obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a genetic heart condition affecting roughly one in 500 adults. It went public with Phase 2 data already in hand.

The offering priced at $18 per share, the midpoint of the range, moving 21.2 million shares. First-day trading lifted the stock 11.7% to close at $20.11, giving Braveheart a post-money valuation of $1.47 billion. Lead underwriters were Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan, with eight additional bookrunners including Jefferies and Leerink Partners. The company's lead asset, BRVE-101, is a next-generation cardiac myosin inhibitor designed to reduce left ventricular outflow obstruction without the liver enzyme warnings that dogged earlier entrants in the category.

The raise marks a sharp reversal from 2023 and 2024, when biotech IPO windows slammed shut and only a handful of companies with late-stage or pivotal trial readouts could access public capital. Braveheart is the sixth U.S. biotech IPO in 2026 and the first to clear $300 million since a neurology play raised $410 million in April 2025. Family offices and crossover funds that sat out early-stage biotech for two years are now writing checks again — but only if Phase 2 data exists. Of the six biotech IPOs this year, five had at least interim mid-stage efficacy data at pricing. The sixth had orphan-drug designation and a breakthrough therapy designation from FDA.

Braveheart's BRVE-101 competes directly with Bristol-Myers Squibb's Camzyos, which posted $578 million in sales last quarter and is on track for $2.4 billion in 2026 revenue. The total addressable market for symptomatic obstructive HCM is estimated at $6.7 billion annually in the U.S. and Europe, with room for multiple entrants if differentiation on safety or dosing convenience is clear. Braveheart's Phase 2b trial enrolled 214 patients across 38 sites and hit its primary endpoint: mean reduction in peak left ventricular outflow gradient of 43 mmHg at twelve weeks, with 78% of patients achieving gradients below 30 mmHg. No hepatotoxicity signals appeared in the dataset, a clean edge over first-generation myosin inhibitors.

The $382 million in proceeds funds two parallel Phase 3 trials, each enrolling 400 patients, with topline data expected in Q3 2028. Braveheart will also initiate a 150-patient Phase 2 study in non-obstructive HCM, a larger and less-served population, by Q1 2027. Cash runway extends into mid-2029, past the Phase 3 readouts. The company's pre-IPO investors include Arch Venture Partners, Versant Ventures, and Cormorant Asset Management, none of whom sold shares in the offering. The lockup expires in 180 days.

Allocators should watch three catalysts in the next eighteen months: enrollment completion of the first Phase 3 trial by Q2 2027, interim safety data from the non-obstructive study in Q4 2027, and any partnership or co-development discussions with large cardio-focused pharma, likely telegraphed through executive hires or board additions. If BRVE-101 holds its safety profile through Phase 3, Braveheart becomes an acquisition candidate for any top-ten pharma company rebuilding its cardiovascular franchise.

The biotech IPO window is open, but it is not indiscriminate. Four more venture-backed biotechs have confidentially filed S-1s in the past six weeks. All four have at least Phase 2 data.

The takeaway
Biotech IPOs are back, but only with mid-stage data — preclinical pitches remain shut out for now.

Your next customer won't visit your website. Their AI will.
AI assistants have quietly taken over the first step of buying — they answer from catalogs they can read and shortlist whoever can actually ship. Two questions now decide whether you exist to that buyer: can a machine read your catalog, and can you fulfill the order. Most brands fail one or both and never find out why the orders went elsewhere. The winners of this shift aren't the loudest. They're the most readable. Build for the machine that's about to do the shopping.
