RealReal's beat and raised guidance suggest authenticated resale is capturing primary luxury share, not just benefiting from trade-down dynamics.

The RealReal posted Q3 2026 revenue of $142 million, ahead of the $137 million consensus, with adjusted EBITDA turning positive at $4.2 million against expectations of a $1.8 million loss. CEO Rati Levesque told analysts the beat reflects what she termed a "fundamental change in how people shop for luxury fashion," language that marks a departure from prior quarters' emphasis on macro headwinds and category mix.
The company's gross merchandise value rose 11% year-over-year to $488 million, with active buyers up 8% to 934,000 and average order value climbing 6% to $523. Consignor supply, long the operational constraint, grew 14% as the platform added 87,000 new sellers in the quarter. Take rate held at 29.1%, within the guided range, while fulfillment costs as a percentage of GMV compressed 120 basis points to 18.4% on warehouse automation that went live in July.
Levesque's commentary matters because it reframes resale from a discretionary trade-down to a primary channel. The RealReal has spent three years cleaning up authentication scandals, narrowing its assortment to watches, handbags, and fine jewelry, and building out white-glove consignment centers in 12 metro areas. The Q3 outperformance came despite LVMH reporting flat North American sales and Kering posting a 9% decline in Gucci revenue for the same period. If authenticated resale is gaining share independent of primary luxury performance, the platform economics shift from cyclical recovery to structural margin expansion.
The forward guidance telegraphs confidence in durability. Management raised full-year 2026 revenue to $555-$565 million from $540-$555 million and lifted adjusted EBITDA to $12-$15 million from prior break-even guidance. Q4 revenue is projected at $148-$158 million, implying sequential growth despite the typical post-holiday slowdown. The company also announced a $50 million share buyback authorization, its first, and reduced net debt to $68 million from $91 million in Q2.
Operators should monitor consignor retention in Q4, particularly among high-value sellers who drive 60% of GMV but represent only 12% of the consignor base. Watch for any partnership announcements with primary luxury brands, which would validate the channel shift thesis Levesque outlined. The company's authentication tech, now processing 14,000 items daily, is being shopped to third parties; any licensing revenue would change the multiple.
The stock closed up 18% at $6.83 on volume 4.2x the 90-day average. The next inflection is January 2027, when the company's credit facility comes up for renewal. If RealReal can refinance on improved terms, the path to sustained positive free cash flow becomes a 2027 story, not 2028.

Your next customer won't visit your website. Their AI will.
AI assistants have quietly taken over the first step of buying — they answer from catalogs they can read and shortlist whoever can actually ship. Two questions now decide whether you exist to that buyer: can a machine read your catalog, and can you fulfill the order. Most brands fail one or both and never find out why the orders went elsewhere. The winners of this shift aren't the loudest. They're the most readable. Build for the machine that's about to do the shopping.
Built by the craft floor — apparel, media, packaging, and secure print.
This trade runs on hands, not desks. Imprint manufacturing & Komori heritage press through approved vendors · Canon high-speed secure-media operations is a craft floor — genuine Six Sigma discipline applied to ink, thread, foil, and registration, where a hundredth of an inch is the difference between a brand that reads serious and one that reads cheap. POPS4 is built by exactly those operators: independent, boots-on-the-ground engineers who carry their own book, read a client in microseconds, and put their name on every run. Beyond our own Virginia Beach floor, we work with a vetted network of craft manufacturers across the US — each meeting the highest excellence in QC standards in the industry, each a specialist in its own discipline — so apparel, hard-goods imprinting, media manufacturing, packaging, and secure printing all go to the bench built for them, coordinated from one accountable hub.
