Situational Awareness disclosed five positions in its final 13F filing before Citadel acquired the firm's portfolio in a forced transaction: SanDisk, Micron Technology, Bloom Energy, Taiwan Semiconductor, and Nebius Group. The June holdings showed $2.1 billion in combined exposure to memory density and data-center power infrastructure. The filing appeared fourteen days after the sale closed, making it the first public view of the thesis Citadel inherited.
The concentration was tight. SanDisk and Micron represented memory arbitrage—both trading at discounts to replacement cost in May and June as hyperscaler capex guidance remained muted. Bloom Energy and TSMC bracketed the power-density problem: solid oxide fuel cells for edge data centers and leading-edge chip packaging for inference acceleration. Nebius Group, the former Yandex cloud unit, gave exposure to non-U.S. training compute at a 37% discount to comparable AWS reserved capacity. The positions shared one attribute: each required twelve to eighteen months to work, and none hedged near-term volatility.
What matters is the duration mismatch. Situational Awareness built a portfolio that required patient capital in a structure that demanded monthly liquidity. The memory thesis needed NAND and DRAM pricing to inflect in Q4 2026 as AI training clusters exhausted cheaply financed storage. The power thesis required Bloom to secure 8-12 gigawatts in signed contracts with hyperscalers by mid-2027. Citadel inherited the positions at marks 11-14% below the June 30 filing prices, but also inherited the duration risk without the original fund's redemption queue.
Allocators should note three follow-on signals. First, whether Citadel unwinds the Nebius position before Russian sovereign risk re-prices in September, when the next round of sanctions clarity arrives. Second, whether SanDisk exits the portfolio before Western Digital's earnings on October 22, which will set NAND pricing expectations for the next two quarters. Third, whether Bloom Energy appears in Citadel's Q3 13F—if it does, the power thesis earned internal validation; if not, the position was marked and exited within sixty days.
The filing tells you what Situational Awareness believed in June. The next 13F tells you what Citadel believes in September.
