Ferran Torres scored Sunday to give Paris Saint-Germain their first Ligue 1 win of the season, a 1-0 result over Brest that closes a winless start stretching 26 matchdays. The goal came in the 68th minute. PSG had drawn 11 and lost 15 before Sunday.
The win changes nothing structural. PSG sit 14th on 34 points, 39 behind leader Lille with 11 matches remaining. Automatic relegation is avoided — the gap to 18th-place Le Havre is 12 points — but Europa League qualification requires winning nine of eleven and results elsewhere breaking favorably. Sporting director Luis Campos has not attended a match since January. President Nasser Al-Khelaifi watched from a suite with three guests, two of them agents.
What matters is the summer window now taking shape in conference rooms, not Sunday's result. PSG will spend between €600M and €700M across six positions, per two club sources granted anonymity. The number is high enough that the club has requested a May board meeting to approve tranches, unusual for a Qatari-owned entity that typically does not pre-approve such figures. Campos is working a 23-player shortlist spanning three leagues. Five names are German-based, four from Serie A, three from the Premier League. The rest are Ligue 1 players PSG will acquire before they become problems elsewhere.
Torres himself is part of the calculus. The 25-year-old forward joined PSG on a six-month loan from Barcelona in January with a €25M option to buy that becomes €35M if PSG finish top-eight. Sunday's goal was his third in seven appearances. Barcelona want him sold to create space for a striker signing of their own. If PSG decline the option, Atletico Madrid have signaled interest at €22M. Sunday's performance does not resolve the decision but keeps it alive. The option expires June 15.
The wider concern is what this season costs beyond the table. PSG's shirt sponsor, All Nippon Airways, has a renewal window opening in September for a deal currently worth €50M annually. The airline is reviewing, per a Tokyo-based source familiar. Finishing outside Europe reduces the renewal to €35M–€40M, based on comparable deals signed by Lyon and Marseille in recent years. That shortfall would not prevent the €700M summer outlay but would require reallocating budget from other areas — likely the women's team or academy expansions already in motion.
The coaching situation clarifies soon. Luis Enrique's contract runs through 2026 but contains a mutual option for 2025 separation if PSG finish below 10th. The club has not approached Enrique about activating it, per a source close to the manager. If PSG keep him, they keep his system, which means the €700M is spent on players fitting a 4-3-3 that prioritizes wide forwards who invert. If they release him, the shortlist changes and the summer compresses. The decision will be made within two weeks of the season's final match, currently scheduled for May 18.
What to watch: PSG host Reims on April 6 in a match that determines nothing in the standings but clarifies depth chart pecking order for the summer. Three fringe players — Nordi Mukiele, Carlos Soler, Renato Sanches — are being shopped quietly to Premier League clubs. A strong performance by any of them raises their exit price by €5M–€8M, per agent conversations reviewed. That money flows directly into the summer budget. Meanwhile, Al-Khelaifi is scheduled to attend the May board meeting in Doha, the first time he has traveled for a club vote since 2019.
The win keeps the season from becoming a full collapse, which is what matters when the next project costs €700M.
The takeaway
PSG's first win masks a **€600M**–**€700M** summer rebuild now in motion, with sponsor renewal at risk and coaching decision due by late May.

Your next customer won't visit your website. Their AI will.
AI assistants have quietly taken over the first step of buying — they answer from catalogs they can read and shortlist whoever can actually ship. Two questions now decide whether you exist to that buyer: can a machine read your catalog, and can you fulfill the order. Most brands fail one or both and never find out why the orders went elsewhere. The winners of this shift aren't the loudest. They're the most readable. Build for the machine that's about to do the shopping.
