The Website You Never Think About Was Open Before Breakfast

PHP is the engine under 69% of the websites whose language is known, which means it is under the website in your company you have not thought about in a year: a dealer portal, a company store, the system that sends your email. The flaw had been in it for more than a decade. Researchers working with AI found it in August. The disclosure broke on Monday night, the attacks began before dawn Tuesday, and the patch landed at 10 a.m. Eastern while governments in Europe took their own websites down to wait for it. No company has reported a breach yet, and that is not the comfort it sounds like: the week between "nothing reported" and "the first one reported" is the week the checking happens. If your site is built on a platform that does not run PHP, this does not touch it. If a vendor's does, it may already have. One email, sent today, tells you within the hour which is which.

PepsiCo bets refrigerated fresh foods drive growth as consumers shift to convenience

PepsiCo is moving into refrigerated fresh foods—gazpacho, guacamole, and chilled soups—to capture growth in the convenience segment, per Modern Retail.

ReadingThe steal: you do not need a new sales team to enter a new category if you already own the shelf space and the route. PepsiCo is using its beverage cooler real estate to stock products that sit at the same temperature and touch the same buyer on the same trip. If you have retail shelf, test a complementary chilled SKU in the same footprint this quarter—use the existing order cycle, no new distributor.
MY STASH TAKEMost small brands think category lock-in means they have to stay in their lane forever. PepsiCo is showing that if you own the logistics and the relationship, you can pivot the product inside the same space. For a DTC brand scaling into wholesale, this is a hard lesson: the shelf is the asset, not the SKU. Once you have a buyer's trust and a cooler slot, the door opens for adjacency.
WatchWatch for PepsiCo to test gazpacho and guacamole bundling with existing beverage lines in Q4 holiday promotions.

Anthropologie pairs holiday campaign with DoorDash bundles, driving early-season urgency

Anthropologie launched October 19 with a holiday campaign featuring travel outfits, partywear, and pajamas, paired with DoorDash-delivered hostess gifts to create a narrative around travel reunions and entertaining, per Modern Retail and Glossy.

ReadingThe steal: the delivery platform is not just logistics—it is a storytelling asset. Anthropologie used DoorDash as part of the gift narrative, not hidden in checkout. If you are running a holiday campaign, partner your fulfillment with the story beat itself. Instead of saying 'ships in 2 days,' build the delivery moment into the emotional reason someone buys. For example: hostess gift arrives same-day as the event, gift arrives before the reunion dinner. Make the mechanism part of the promise.
MY STASH TAKEThis is the opposite of the standard holiday playbook. Most brands launch a campaign and outsource fulfillment. Anthropologie put delivery into the campaign. DoorDash is not mentioned once as logistics—it is mentioned as the way the gift arrives. That shift from 'we ship fast' to 'your thoughtfulness arrives in two hours' is the whole edge. Most operators skip this because it requires coordination across creative and ops. That is why it works.
WatchWatch for Anthropologie to track which products drive the highest DoorDash redemption rates and feature those in post-holiday email flows.

Marriott Bonvoy scaled global campaign using creator networks, per Marketing Dive report

Marriott Bonvoy built a global creator-led campaign that achieved scale and speed by working with networks of creators rather than individual influencers, per Marketing Dive.

ReadingThe steal: do not build creator partnerships creator-by-creator. Find the network or collective that represents creators in your target region and negotiate one contract that covers multiple accounts at once. The network handles vetting, delivery, and performance tracking. You talk to one team. For a small brand testing international expansion, identify a creator collective in each market and offer them a flat fee to distribute product and brief across their roster. One contract, 10-20 creators, one reporting structure.
MY STASH TAKEMost brands build influencer campaigns by hunting individual TikTokers and Instagram accounts. Marriott skipped that and went to the aggregators—the networks that already have the roster built. Faster, cheaper, and they handle the messy part (contract language, payment splits, performance tracking). This matters if you are scaling internationally or you do not have time to vet fifty individual creators.
WatchWatch for Marriott to release data on creator-network cost-per-reach versus individual influencer partnerships.

Amy's Kitchen tackles ultra-processed food myths in national campaign, per Marketing Dive

Amy's Kitchen launched a national campaign directly addressing consumer myths about ultra-processed foods, building narrative authority around ingredient transparency and production methods, per Marketing Dive.

ReadingThe steal: identify the false belief your competitors rely on to justify their pricing or production. Name it plainly. Build a campaign that teaches the truth. When you educate the buyer on why the myth exists, you become the trustworthy source, not just another brand. For a small food brand, pick one widely believed lie (e.g., 'all freezing kills nutrients', 'organic always costs more', 'natural flavors are always plant-based') and make a three-part education series—social, email, retail shelf signage—that walks the buyer through the science. The story becomes the differentiation.
MY STASH TAKEAmy's could have just run a product ad. Instead it ran a myth-busting campaign. That is harder because it requires you to know what buyers actually believe and why they believe it. But when it lands, the buyer does not just prefer your product—they understand why they should. That is the difference between preference and conviction.
WatchWatch for Amy's to expand this myth-busting series across YouTube and TikTok with user-generated myth submissions.

Shoppable TV sees lift from shows like Traitors and Love Island USA

NBCUniversal is building shoppable TV across Peacock and third-party platforms like LG TVs, with measurable engagement lift from reality shows like Traitors and Love Island USA, per Modern Retail.

ReadingThe steal: shoppable video is not new, but the scale and platform placement are. If you make a product that appears on camera—fashion, home, beauty—pitch placement on unscripted reality shows and negotiate a direct shoppable link inside the platform. You do not need to pay for ads if the product is on screen. The show viewers are already watching. The show runner handles the talent and narrative; you handle the fulfillment link. For DTC brands, approach production companies that make reality shows and offer to place product in a scene in exchange for a shoppable link.
MY STASH TAKEThis is not product placement as we knew it—where brands paid to have their logo visible. This is product placement where the viewer can buy without breaking the viewing experience. The show is the storefront. That is a completely different economics. The conversion happens inside entertainment, not inside an ad break.
WatchWatch for NBCUniversal to release viewership-to-purchase conversion rates by show genre.

Publishers pivot from Google traffic to subscriptions and AI visibility as search traffic declines

As Google traffic dries up, publishers like Forbes are moving toward direct subscriptions, AI content partnerships, and newsletter revenue, per Digiday reporting on the post-Google playbook.

ReadingThe steal: if your traffic model depends on a single platform (Google, Meta, TikTok), you have no business—you have a rented audience. Build email capture as the default action on every page. Turn visitors into subscribers, not just pageviews. For a DTC brand, every blog post should have a clear email opt-in gate—not hiding it, but treating it as the conversion event, not the product sale. The email list is the asset; the product is secondary. Measure the lifetime value of a subscriber, not the ad spend per click.
MY STASH TAKEPublishers are learning the hard way: you can not build a business on borrowed traffic. Every smart brand is realizing the same thing. If you are relying on Meta ads or Google search to survive, you are one algorithm change away from a crisis. The brands winning now are building email lists the way they would build retail shelves—as the core distribution, not a side channel.
WatchWatch for DTC brands to shift email capture from 'newsletter sign-up' to 'VIP access' or 'founding member' to increase conversion.

Veja refocuses on growth as tariffs hit Brazilian footwear supply chain

Faced with additional U.S. tariffs on Brazilian footwear, Veja is sticking with its established supply chain and investing in parts of the business it can control—likely wholesale expansion and direct-to-consumer channels, per Glossy.

ReadingThe steal: when external pressure hits (tariffs, inflation, supply disruption), brands typically flee to cheaper work. Veja is betting that brand story beats cost savings. If your brand has a supply-chain story (handmade, local, ethical sourcing), doubling down on that story during a tariff crisis is a way to justify price increases to retailers and customers. Do not rebrand for cost. Lean into the story that made the price defensible in the first place.
MY STASH TAKEThis is a whisper-strength signal, but it matters. Veja is taking the hard road—keeping costs higher and the story clearer—instead of the easy road—moving production and confusing the customer. Most brands would have already gone to Vietnam by now. Veja is treating the tariff as a moment to reinforce why their supply chain matters. That is conviction.
WatchWatch for Veja to release a campaign tied to Brazil sustainability and ethical labor practices in Q4.
