The Website You Never Think About Was Open Before Breakfast

PHP is the engine under 69% of the websites whose language is known, which means it is under the website in your company you have not thought about in a year: a dealer portal, a company store, the system that sends your email. The flaw had been in it for more than a decade. Researchers working with AI found it in August. The disclosure broke on Monday night, the attacks began before dawn Tuesday, and the patch landed at 10 a.m. Eastern while governments in Europe took their own websites down to wait for it. No company has reported a breach yet, and that is not the comfort it sounds like: the week between "nothing reported" and "the first one reported" is the week the checking happens. If your site is built on a platform that does not run PHP, this does not touch it. If a vendor's does, it may already have. One email, sent today, tells you within the hour which is which.

Repositioned 'perfectly good' razors as commodity wins amid AI pivot

Dollar Shave Club reframed its core product—the razor itself—as 'perfectly good' rather than premium, per Marketing Dive, anchoring the brand's continued relevance as it expands AI capabilities.

ReadingThe steal: name your product plainly and let the subscription model, not the object, hold the price. 'Perfectly good' is more credible than 'premium' and it costs zero to say. Every copywriter wants to add adjectives; DSC removed them. Run the same move: write one sentence about your product that would pass a customer's first unboxing without flinching. That sentence becomes the ad.
MY STASH TAKEThis is the move nobody does because it feels cheap. Saying 'perfectly good' sounds like you lost the marketing job. But DSC just made the boring part the competitive edge—because boring doesn't compete on emotion, it competes on trust. They're letting the repeat order prove the product. Most brands are still trying to sell the first one.
WatchWatch whether DSC ties the AI expansion to ease-of-reorder messaging—the actual utility customers care about.

Embedded pizza ordering inside Minecraft, reaching players where they already spend time

Domino's partnered with Minecraft to allow players to order personal pizza directly within the game environment, per Marketing Dive, placing the brand inside the leisure activity itself.

ReadingThe steal: place your product where your customer already spends leisure time, not where they're forced to watch ads. Domino's didn't sponsor Minecraft; it integrated commerce into it. For a physical product brand, this means: find the platform or community where your buyer idles, then enable the purchase without friction from within that space. The move isn't 'be in Minecraft'—it's 'make the order part of the game itself.' Test this with one small community (Discord, specific subreddit, private Slack group) where your buyers already gather; add a link or embed that lets them order without leaving.
MY STASH TAKEEvery brand talks about 'meeting customers where they are.' Domino's actually did it—not as a stunt, but as a real transaction inside the leisure space. The win isn't awareness; it's removing friction at the moment of desire. Most pizza brands are still running ads. Domino's is selling pizza while you're playing.
WatchWatch for Domino's expanding this to other games and the conversion rates they report—if order-in-game outpaces traditional channels.

John Hardy
Glossy ↗

Enlisted Billie Eilish and Finneas to co-design jewelry collections

John Hardy worked with siblings Billie Eilish and Finneas to design two collections under the guidance of designer Reed Krakoff, per Glossy, positioning the brand within the music and design overlap.

ReadingThe steal: when you partner with a creator, give them production credit, not just visibility. Having Eilish's name on the design—not just the campaign—makes her audience believe she actually wore and used the product. For a smaller brand, this means: find one creator whose aesthetic matches your product, send prototypes, ask them to modify one or two things, then credit them as co-designer on the SKU label and in the story. The conversion lift comes from 'Eilish designed this' not 'Eilish wore this.'
MY STASH TAKEMost collaborations are transactional: brand pays creator to post. This one makes the creator a designer. That flip—from endorsement to ownership—is why it works. Eilish fans aren't buying jewelry because Eilish said so; they're buying because Eilish made a choice about what the thing should look like.
WatchWatch for sales data on the Wildflower collections versus past John Hardy drops—co-design partnerships often outperform straight endorsements.

1-800-Flowers.com
PRNewswire ↗

Named exclusive floral partner of TCS New York City Marathon, reaching 50,000+ participants and spectators.

1-800-Flowers.com became the official floral partner of the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon, per PRNewswire, aligning the brand with a high-traffic annual event and gifting moment.

ReadingThe steal: partner with a physical event that generates natural gifting moments. The marathon creates urgency ('my sister just finished, I want to send her flowers now') and emotional context (victory, gratitude, celebration). For a physical product brand, find an event where winners, finishers, or celebrants gather; then position your product as the natural gift for that moment. Run this play: identify three annual events in your vertical (sports, wellness, community) where people want to gift, then pitch yourself as the official or exclusive supplier for that moment. The event does the demand work; you own the supply.
MY STASH TAKEEvents are underused by DTC brands because the ROI looks soft. But 1-800-Flowers knows: an event isn't awareness, it's a permission structure to ask for a sale at the exact moment someone wants to buy. The marathon creates the occasion; 1-800-Flowers just shows up.
WatchWatch for 1-800-Flowers to extend this to other major races and marathons in 2026-2027, or to integrate QR codes at finish lines.

Courvoisier
Marketing Dive ↗

Launched first global campaign in years around house-party culture and social gathering

Courvoisier returned to global marketing with a campaign centered on house-party culture, per Marketing Dive, recasting the cognac as a social staple rather than a luxury statement.

ReadingThe steal: reframe your premium product as part of a social ritual, not a status symbol. Courvoisier didn't say 'exclusive'; it said 'bring this to your next gathering.' For a physical product, find the everyday social moment where your product adds value—not luxury, but utility-within-pleasure. Then build the story around that moment, not the object. Run this: identify one social ritual where your product naturally lives (game night, travel prep, post-workout, end-of-week wind-down), then create one piece of content showing the product as a supporting player in that ritual, not the hero. Distribute to peers of your buyer, not broad audience.
MY STASH TAKELuxury brands usually lean into exclusivity. Courvoisier's move is the opposite—make it social, make it shareable, make it a reason to gather. The house party is the equalizer. That's a smarter play for retention than scarcity.
WatchWatch for Courvoisier to tie this to seasonal entertaining content and whether house-party culture messaging outpaces luxury-positioning in their paid media mix.

Retention crisis hits box three; email intervention becomes essential cost of acquisition

Per Eye on Annapolis reporting, subscription retention research shows a breaking point at box three—after the welcome discount wears off and initial excitement fades—requiring aggressive email retention strategies.

ReadingThe steal: expect 30-40% churn at box three and budget your email strategy accordingly. Don't treat box three as a normal renewal; treat it as a re-acquisition moment. For a subscription brand: send a different email sequence before box three ships. Instead of 'Your box is on the way,' send 'Here's why box three matters' or 'Skip it, pause it, or we've included this limited item.' Give the customer agency. Then, one week before box four would ship, send a 'We noticed you might not love this' email with a discount to re-subscribe or a win-back offer. The retention game is won or lost at box three, not box one.
MY STASH TAKEEvery subscription brand knows box one converts. Most don't engineer for box three. The brands that do—that plan retention the same way they plan acquisition—are the ones who stay alive past year two. This isn't about being clever; it's about expecting churn and designing email funnels that treat box three as a re-proposal.
WatchWatch for subscription brands publishing their box-three churn rates and what email sequences they're testing to hold customers at that cliff.

Sparkle Grooming Co.
PRNewswire ↗

Membership-based dog grooming franchise reaches local scale with community open house

Sparkle Grooming Co. opened its Broken Arrow salon on October 26, 2026, with a wellness-focused membership model and community event, per PRNewswire, signaling how grooming categories are shifting to recurring revenue.

ReadingThe steal: if you're in a service category (grooming, fitness, food prep, cleaning), test a membership model against one-time transactions. The gross margin is higher, churn is predictable, and customer lifetime value is visible from month one. For a product brand, create a parallel: 'membership gives you early access to drops, members-only colors, or a discount applied to recurring orders.' Run this in one geography first, measure retention at month two and month four, then expand if the membership retention beats random repeat-order rates by 10%+.
MY STASH TAKEPet grooming is usually cash-register business. Sparkle is converting it to SaaS. That's the move—take a low-touch service category and wrap it in recurring revenue. The product companies missing this are the ones still thinking transaction.
WatchWatch for Sparkle Grooming's member retention rate and whether membership uptake outpaces non-member grooming services at the same location.
