The Website You Never Think About Was Open Before Breakfast

PHP is the engine under 69% of the websites whose language is known, which means it is under the website in your company you have not thought about in a year: a dealer portal, a company store, the system that sends your email. The flaw had been in it for more than a decade. Researchers working with AI found it in August. The disclosure broke on Monday night, the attacks began before dawn Tuesday, and the patch landed at 10 a.m. Eastern while governments in Europe took their own websites down to wait for it. No company has reported a breach yet, and that is not the comfort it sounds like: the week between "nothing reported" and "the first one reported" is the week the checking happens. If your site is built on a platform that does not run PHP, this does not touch it. If a vendor's does, it may already have. One email, sent today, tells you within the hour which is which.

Live shopping platform launches first national TV spot as category gains mainstream traction

Whatnot ran its first national TV commercial as live shopping begins moving beyond niche adoption, per Adweek.

ReadingThe steal: when a new channel or format starts working at scale (as live shopping has), the second mover doesn't outspend the first—they go broad before the category becomes crowded. Whatnot's move was to own the category name in living rooms before TikTok Shop, Amazon Live, or YouTube Shopping claimed it. Run your first paid ad in a mass channel while the category still belongs to the early player, not after.
MY STASH TAKEThis is the inflection point nobody captures until it's in the rearview. Whatnot didn't invent live shopping; they saw the numbers tick and knew the window to own it in the mainstream mind was open for maybe 6 months. Once Target or Walmart runs their own live shopping spot, Whatnot becomes a category player, not the category. The smart move is to spend when the market is still asking 'what is this?' not 'which one should I use?'
WatchWatch for TikTok Shop or Amazon Live to counter with their own national spots within Q1 2026, or for Whatnot to layer in celebrity hosts on broadcast.

Agentic AI helped optimize BFCM inventory and pricing across sales windows, per Modern Retail

Willy Chavarria used agentic commerce—autonomous AI systems that adjust pricing and stock in real time—to run BFCM without manual intervention, per Modern Retail.

ReadingThe steal: don't guess your BFCM discount ladder ahead of time. Plug your inventory, your cost floor, and your competitor-watch feed into an agentic pricing engine and let it move price in 4-hour windows based on sell-through velocity. Most brands lock discount 30 days out; the move is to let the system re-optimize every quarter-day. The result is higher AOV and lower clearance markdowns.
MY STASH TAKEWilly Chavarria is a luxury menswear brand—not exactly Amazon—so the fact that they're using agentic AI to run BFCM tells you the tools have crossed the threshold from enterprise-only to accessible. The real play for a smaller brand is to stop doing the guesswork. Your margins are too thin and your inventory too tight to leave pricing on the table because you set it in October for November.
WatchWatch for other luxury and contemporary brands to adopt agentic pricing during peak season; expect margin data to surface by Q1 2026.

Resale brand moves into live shopping via Whatnot partnership ahead of expected slowdown

ThredUp, the secondhand fashion marketplace, launched on Whatnot to test live-auction selling during what they expected to be a slower H2 2026, per SGB Media.

ReadingThe steal: test new selling formats during slow season, not peak. Your baseline is lower, so a failed test doesn't crater your quarter. Your team has cycles to debug. And if it works, you own the format before competitors pile in during BFCM. ThredUp's play was to use a soft-demand window to build the live-auction muscle before the rest of resale followed.
MY STASH TAKEThredUp has the unfair advantage of inventory that's genuinely scarce and unrepeatable—every piece is one-of-one. That scarcity is live shopping's oxygen. What's clever is the timing: they didn't wait for proven demand in live resale. They went in early, built the playbook, and now when BFCM hits and other resale brands start exploring Whatnot, ThredUp's already got the broadcast chops and the seller experience. That's a three-month head start most brands never give themselves.
WatchWatch for other resale and luxury-consignment brands to follow ThredUp into live shopping by Q4 2025.

Top 10 independent creators earned six figures selling through TikTok Shop in September 2026

Per Net Influencer, the top 10 independent creators on TikTok Shop generated six-figure earnings in a single month by selling directly to followers without brand partnerships.

ReadingThe steal: if you're a creator or have creator-close audience, selling your own products on TikTok Shop bypasses every traditional bottleneck—no distributor, no wholesale markdown, no influencer fee. You film, you sell, you ship. The top 10 earners didn't have brands backing them; they had followers. Build audience first, inventory second, then flip the switch to sales. Six figures a month is the proof.
MY STASH TAKEThis is the inflection where 'influencer' stops meaning 'person paid to advertise' and starts meaning 'person who owns the customer.' The 10 top creators in September didn't need brand deals or affiliate codes. They just needed TikTok Shop and SKUs. For small brands watching this, the move is to stop thinking about TikTok as a reach channel and start thinking about it as a sales channel. If these creators can do six figures with their own products, your branded product on their shelf—or your own channel—is not a brand-awareness cost, it's a revenue line.
WatchWatch for the top 10 to publish their playbooks, top-seller lists, and product sourcing strategies within Q1 2026.

Beauty brands on TikTok Shop
WWD ↗

Beauty category booming on TikTok Shop as full-funnel sellers test live and curated drops

Per WWD, beauty brands are using TikTok Shop not just for sales, but as a testing ground for live streaming, drops, and direct audience engagement in real time.

ReadingThe steal: if your product is visible in video (beauty, fashion, home, food), move the demo to TikTok Shop and layer in a drop format. Don't make it always-available; make it live-event-only or limited-restock-only. Beauty sellers learned that the urgency of 'this goes away in 2 hours' converts better than 'this is always here.' Schedule drops, build waitlist, go live, sell out, rinse.
MY STASH TAKEBeauty on TikTok Shop is the canary in the coal mine for any product category that lives or dies by demo video. If you can show it working in 15 seconds, TikTok Shop is your channel. The fact that beauty is booming there tells you that product-demo-as-media is now the entry point, and live drops are the scarcity lever. Most brands are still thinking of TikTok as an awareness channel; beauty figured out it's a sales channel.
WatchWatch for beauty brands to publish their drop schedules and waitlist numbers by end of Q4 2025.

Retail media networks across grocery and department stores
IAB / Supermarket News ↗

Nearly 43% of retail media buyers underutilize in-store media; half of grocers are not maximizing shelf-edge placements

Per IAB and Supermarket News, 43% of retail media buyers admit they're underusing in-store media options like shelf-edge screens, endcap placements, and checkout displays. Almost half of grocery retailers report they're not fully using their own media infrastructure.

ReadingThe steal: ask your retail partners for their in-store media rate card and run a 43%-of-buyers-skip-this audit. If shelf-edge screens are 30% cheaper than digital, test 10% of your paid budget there for 8 weeks. Measure foot traffic lift and basket size. Most brands don't even ask about in-store media options; the ones who do find it outperforms on ROI per dollar because the audience is already in buying mode.
MY STASH TAKEThis is the asymmetry nobody talks about. Retailers have spent millions on in-store media infrastructure and brands are still buying Facebook ads. The retailers are desperate to fill screens; the brands don't even know the screens exist. If 43% of media buyers are underusing it, that means there's a 57% minority who are already claiming the inventory. Get in the 57% by calling your retail buyer this week and asking what media inventory they have available inside stores. Your cost per customer will drop because you're reaching them at point of purchase, not at point of doom-scroll.
WatchWatch for retail media network rates and performance data to surface in Q1 2026 as more brands test in-store placements.

Videowise (AI live shopping platform)
EIN News ↗

AI-powered live shopping moderation could unlock scaling for smaller brands on new platforms

Per EIN News, Videowise is deploying AI systems to automate the moderation and logistics of live shopping events, potentially removing the operational friction that keeps smaller brands off live platforms.

ReadingThe steal: watch this space. If Videowise's AI moderation works, the next play for a 5-person brand is to run 1-2 live shopping events per week with minimal ops overhead. You'll know it's working when smaller, DTC-first brands start logging live shopping revenue. Right now, only bigger brands and creators can absorb the operational cost. AI removes that tax.
MY STASH TAKEThis one is early-stage, so I'm flagging it as watch territory, not tested fact. But the logic is sound: live shopping's biggest tax is operational complexity, not technology. If Videowise cracks AI moderation, it's like what Shopify did for storefronts—it removes the operational moat that kept only big brands in the game. File this under 'test in Q1 2026 if you have even basic live-selling chops.'
WatchWatch for Videowise's AI moderation tooling to go into beta with small-brand partners by Q1 2026.
