Accenture Song acquired Whalar, a London-founded creator and social marketing agency, for an undisclosed sum in early June, 90 days after closing its acquisition of New York-based Superdigital in March. The twin purchases mark the consulting giant's fastest sequential deployment of capital into influencer infrastructure on record.
Whalar, which operates creator campaigns for brands including Unilever and Samsung, will fold into Accenture Song's existing social practice alongside Superdigital, which specializes in short-form video production and community management. Neither deal disclosed transaction value. Accenture reported $64.9 billion in revenue for fiscal 2024, ending August 31, with its Song division contributing an estimated $8-10 billion of that total. The company has completed 42 acquisitions since fiscal 2022, per its annual filings, but rarely announces two agency purchases in the same creative vertical within a single quarter.
The acceleration matters because it reveals how holding companies view creator talent as hard infrastructure, not soft services. Traditional agencies built around campaign concepting struggle to price creator relationships, which depend on individual personalities with finite shelf lives and non-transferable audience trust. Accenture Song, by contrast, can absorb Whalar's 300+ creator relationships and Superdigital's production workflows as bolt-on capabilities for its consulting engagements, then bill them at strategy rates rather than production rates. This pricing arbitrage explains why Accenture can afford to leave acquisition prices undisclosed while WPP and Publicis publicly debate the ROI of similar purchases.
The deal also exposes a talent bottleneck in luxury and travel categories. Whalar's roster includes several creators focused on premium hospitality and aspirational travel content, a vertical where brands pay $15,000-$50,000 per sponsored post for creators with 500,000+ Instagram followers. Superdigital's strength in short-form video production aligns with the shift toward TikTok and Reels as primary discovery channels for high-net-worth travelers under 45. By consolidating both agencies under one P&L, Accenture Song can now pitch end-to-end creator campaigns to hotel groups and luxury conglomerates without coordinating across separate vendor contracts.
Watch for Accenture to announce a third creator-economy acquisition before its fiscal year ends August 31, likely targeting an Asia-Pacific agency to complete geographic coverage. The company typically clusters acquisitions in threes when building new service lines, a pattern visible in its data-analytics purchases between 2021 and 2023. Also watch whether Whalar's existing venture arm, which has invested in creator-tools startups, gets spun out or absorbed into Accenture Ventures, the parent company's CVC vehicle managing $450 million in assets.
Accenture will report fourth-quarter earnings September 26. Analyst consensus expects $16.4 billion in quarterly revenue, flat year-over-year, meaning the company needs M&A to hit growth targets rather than relying on organic expansion.
The takeaway
Two influencer-agency acquisitions in 90 days suggest Accenture values creator relationships as scalable infrastructure, not project-based services.

Your next customer won't visit your website. Their AI will.
AI assistants have quietly taken over the first step of buying — they answer from catalogs they can read and shortlist whoever can actually ship. Two questions now decide whether you exist to that buyer: can a machine read your catalog, and can you fulfill the order. Most brands fail one or both and never find out why the orders went elsewhere. The winners of this shift aren't the loudest. They're the most readable. Build for the machine that's about to do the shopping.
