Walmart completed its acquisition of Vibe.co this week, six months after announcing the deal in June. The purchase price was not disclosed, but Vibe.co's enterprise valuation at last private round sat near $500M. Walmart Connect, the retailer's advertising arm, now controls Vibe's direct integrations with Roku, Samsung, LG, and Vizio operating systems—hardware that sits in roughly 200 million U.S. households.

Vibe.co built server-side ad insertion technology that allows brands to serve dynamic creative directly into streaming content without relying on traditional demand-side platforms. Walmart Connect generated $3.4B in ad revenue in fiscal 2024, up 26% year-over-year, almost entirely from search and display placements on Walmart.com and the mobile app. The Vibe acquisition adds a third pillar: connected TV inventory with deterministic purchase attribution. A luxury watch brand can now run a 15-second spot during a cooking show, then measure which viewers clicked through to Walmart.com and which completed checkout within 72 hours.

This matters because retail media networks have struggled to prove incremental lift beyond last-click attribution. Vibe's technology closes that loop. Walmart already operates 4,606 U.S. stores and processes more than 255 million customer transactions per week. Adding CTV means Walmart Connect can now offer closed-loop measurement from ad exposure to in-store or online purchase, something traditional TV buyers have wanted for two decades. The implications ripple through holding companies. Omnicom, Publicis, and WPP negotiated upfront CTV commitments totaling $18B across all platforms in 2024. Walmart Connect can now compete for a share of that budget with data no streaming service can match: actual SKU-level purchase behavior.

The move also pressures Amazon Ads, which reported $14.3B in revenue for Q3 2024 and has spent three years building its own CTV stack through Thursday Night Football and Freevee. Amazon lacks Walmart's physical footprint but leads in Prime Video reach. The two retailers now control the only closed-loop CTV platforms backed by first-party transaction data at scale. Smaller retail media networks—Target's Roundel, Kroger's Retail Media—must either acquire similar CTV infrastructure or accept relegation to search-and-display only.

Operators should watch three follow-on events. First, whether Walmart Connect bundles CTV inventory with search-and-display commitments in 2025 upfront negotiations, likely finalized by April. Second, whether Vibe's existing agency clients—including several holding-company trading desks—maintain direct access or are redirected through Walmart Connect's managed-service team. Third, whether Walmart begins packaging CTV placements with Walmart+ subscriptions, which hit 32 million members in Q2 2024 and include Paramount+ streaming access. That bundle could create a flywheel: more subscribers generate more inventory, which attracts more ad dollars, which subsidizes membership growth.

Vibe.co's CEO confirmed the integration is already underway, with full platform consolidation expected by March 2025.

The takeaway
Walmart now controls the only retail media CTV platform with deterministic attribution from **200M** smart TVs to **255M** weekly transactions.

Your next customer won't visit your website. Their AI will.
AI assistants have quietly taken over the first step of buying — they answer from catalogs they can read and shortlist whoever can actually ship. Two questions now decide whether you exist to that buyer: can a machine read your catalog, and can you fulfill the order. Most brands fail one or both and never find out why the orders went elsewhere. The winners of this shift aren't the loudest. They're the most readable. Build for the machine that's about to do the shopping.

This trade runs on hands, not desks. Imprint manufacturing & Komori Press · Canon high-speed secure-media operations is a craft floor — genuine Six Sigma discipline applied to ink, thread, foil, and registration, where a hundredth of an inch is the difference between a brand that reads serious and one that reads cheap. Beyond our own Virginia Beach floor, we work with a vetted network of craft manufacturers across the US — each meeting the highest excellence in QC standards in the industry, each a specialist in its own discipline — so apparel, hard-goods imprinting, media manufacturing, packaging, and secure printing all go to the bench built for them, coordinated from one accountable hub.
