FP Movement splits Brooks sneaker drop: one style exclusive to FPMovement.com, one available everywhere

Channel-tiered scarcity teaches customers where to shop first without killing the brand partnership.

FP Movement and Brooks launched four exclusive sneaker styles in August 2026, according to PRNewswire, with a deliberate split: the Glycerin Max 2 sold only on FPMovement.com, while the Glycerin 23 went live on both FP Movement and Brooks channels. The move creates a scarcity gradient inside a single launch, training the FP Movement customer that some product lives nowhere else.

The mechanics are straightforward. Both brands developed four co-branded styles. Two of those—the Glycerin Max 2 and three others not specified in the release—carry different distribution rules. The Max 2 is FP Movement-only. The Glycerin 23 crosses both ecosystems. Same launch window, same marketing push, different access points.

This works because it solves the collaboration tension: how do you give a retail partner exclusive product without choking the brand partner's own revenue? Brooks keeps direct access to one style, FP Movement gets a proprietary SKU that drives traffic to its site. The customer learns that FP Movement inventory includes things Brooks won't carry, which changes the browse habit. If you want the full assortment, you shop FP Movement first. If you want the Glycerin 23 and prefer Brooks' checkout or loyalty points, that path stays open.

The underlying mechanism is tiered exclusivity within a shared launch. Instead of making the entire drop exclusive to one channel—which risks alienating the brand partner's customer base—you segment by SKU. High-demand or limited-run styles go to the exclusive channel. Broader styles go wide. The result: the exclusive channel earns scarcity credibility without the brand partner losing all access to the collaboration's halo.

For a small physical-product brand running a retail or influencer collaboration, the steal is direct. Identify two SKUs: one hero item and one accessible variant. The hero goes only through the partner's channel. The accessible variant goes through both. Announce them together. In your product copy, label the hero as "exclusive to [Partner Name]" and link to their site. On your own site, carry the accessible variant and say "also available here." The partner gets a traffic driver, you keep a revenue share, and customers learn to check the partner first for early or limited product.

Cost: zero if you're already producing two SKUs. The only addition is clear labeling in your launch email and product pages. A one-person brand can run this with a single wholesale partner and two colorways of the same product. The exclusive colorway lives at the partner, the standard colorway lives everywhere. Same inventory decision, different label.

The broader pattern is channel-based scarcity as a teaching tool. You're not locking customers out; you're teaching them where to look first. FP Movement now owns the perception of carrying Brooks product that Brooks itself doesn't stock. That's a browse behavior shift, built with one SKU decision per launch. The next move: repeat the pattern across future drops until "check FP Movement first" becomes automatic, then rotate which styles go exclusive to keep the behavior fresh without the customer feeling gamed.

The takeaway
Split a drop by SKU and channel: hero exclusive to the partner, accessible style everywhere.

Your next customer won't visit your website. Their AI will.
AI assistants have quietly taken over the first step of buying — they answer from catalogs they can read and shortlist whoever can actually ship. Two questions now decide whether you exist to that buyer: can a machine read your catalog, and can you fulfill the order. Most brands fail one or both and never find out why the orders went elsewhere. The winners of this shift aren't the loudest. They're the most readable. Build for the machine that's about to do the shopping.
