MagBak ships first motion-enabled Google Shopping ads, conversion up 34% in 60 days

Enhanced image ads let product move in search results — the brand that shows function wins the click.

MagBak, Neon Growth, and Marpipe launched what the partners believe to be the first enhanced image ads on Google Shopping in August 2026, according to TMCnet. The change: product imagery that moves — a phone case snapping onto a car mount, a wallet folding open — displayed directly in shopping search results alongside static competitor listings. MagBak reported a 34% lift in conversion within 60 days of the test, per the company's own disclosure in the PR Newswire release.

The mechanics are straightforward. Google Shopping traditionally displays a single static product photo, price, and merchant name. Enhanced image ads allow a short looping sequence or contextual lifestyle shot to render in the same real estate. The user sees the product in motion or in use before clicking through. MagBak used the format to show its magnetic phone mount attaching to a dashboard and a case snapping into place, demonstrating function at the point of search.

The mechanism is legibility at speed. A static product shot requires the shopper to infer how it works. Motion collapses that inference into half a second of demonstration. The brain processes visual action faster than text or still images, and a product that shows its own utility answers the unasked question — does this do what I need — before the click. In a grid of identical white-background product shots, the one that moves pulls the eye and signals higher intent from the merchant. The format also allows brands to display context: the product on a body, in a hand, on a surface, which reduces perceived risk and speeds the purchase decision.

The steal for a small physical-product brand is to prepare motion-ready assets now and lobby your shopping platform or ad channel to test the format. Start with a 3-5 second looping MP4 or GIF that shows the product's primary function: opening, attaching, fitting, activating. Shoot it on a clean surface with natural light, no cuts, one continuous action. Export at 1:1 aspect ratio, under 2MB. Load it into your product library alongside static images. When Google Shopping, Amazon Sponsored Products, or Meta Catalog ads expand motion support in your category, you have the creative ready and can publish same-day while competitors scramble. If your platform does not yet support motion in-feed, test the same asset as the hero image in your product detail page video slot or as a pinned Story/Reel on Instagram — both prove the concept and build the muscle for shooting functional motion. Budget: zero if you own a phone with 4K video. A ring light and tripod run $40 total. The file prep is free via Canva or any basic editor.

The broader pattern: static product photography is losing ground to motion and context across every channel that sells physical goods. Brands that ship motion-ready creative libraries today will own the next 18 months of search and social distribution as platforms race to differentiate their ad inventory. The first mover in your category gets the format advantage and the signal advantage — platforms reward early adopters with lower CPMs and better placement while the feature is new.

The takeaway
Motion in shopping ads answers the function question before the click — prepare looping product demos now, ship them when your channel opens the gate.

Your next customer won't visit your website. Their AI will.
AI assistants have quietly taken over the first step of buying — they answer from catalogs they can read and shortlist whoever can actually ship. Two questions now decide whether you exist to that buyer: can a machine read your catalog, and can you fulfill the order. Most brands fail one or both and never find out why the orders went elsewhere. The winners of this shift aren't the loudest. They're the most readable. Build for the machine that's about to do the shopping.

Built by the craft floor — apparel, media, packaging, and secure print.
This trade runs on hands, not desks. Imprint manufacturing & Komori Press · Canon high-speed secure-media operations is a craft floor — genuine Six Sigma discipline applied to ink, thread, foil, and registration, where a hundredth of an inch is the difference between a brand that reads serious and one that reads cheap. POPS4 is built by exactly those operators: independent, boots-on-the-ground engineers who carry their own book, read a client in microseconds, and put their name on every run. Beyond our own Virginia Beach floor, we work with a vetted network of craft manufacturers across the US — each meeting the highest excellence in QC standards in the industry, each a specialist in its own discipline — so apparel, hard-goods imprinting, media manufacturing, packaging, and secure printing all go to the bench built for them, coordinated from one accountable hub. Short-run from twenty-five units, volume to five hundred thousand. Two hundred authorized national brands, seventy thousand SKUs with virtual proofing on every one. Art archived for instant reorders. Net-thirty corporate terms, NDA-standard white-label — your name on the work, or none at all.
