Molson Coors scrapped campaign briefs, shipped creative in 48 hours, engagement jumped 4x

Moving from quarterly TV-style planning to rolling creator collaboration changed the speed and the numbers.

Molson Coors partnered with Movers+Shakers to rebuild how it works with creators and saw engagement climb four times higher, according to Digiday. The change was not a budget increase or a roster expansion. It was operational: the company eliminated the brief-approval-revision cycle inherited from broadcast and moved to continuous, real-time collaboration with creators.

The old model ran on quarterly planning windows and multi-week approval chains. A creator would receive a brief, submit a concept, wait for legal and brand review, revise, wait again, then shoot. By the time the asset shipped, the cultural moment had often passed. Molson Coors and Movers+Shakers replaced that with what they call "creator speed" — rolling feedback, same-day approvals on concept direction, and a 48-hour turnaround from green light to live post. Creators were briefed on brand guardrails up front, then trusted to execute within them without round-trip revisions.

The mechanism that drives the result is speed-to-relevance. A creator working in real time can hook into a news cycle, a trend, or a format shift while the audience still cares. The broadcast approval process was built for expensive 30-second spots that ran for months; creator content peaks in days and often hours. When you compress cycle time, you increase the probability that the asset reaches its audience while the context is still live. The 4x engagement gain came from shipping more pieces that landed in the moment, not from paying for better creators or bigger budgets.

The structural change was organizational, not creative. Molson Coors moved brand and legal reviewers into a shared Slack channel with creators and agency teams. Approvals happened in thread, not email. The company wrote a one-page guardrail document — prohibited claims, logo treatment, disclosure language — and handed it to creators at onboarding instead of briefing each asset individually. That document replaced the multi-page brief. Creators were told the campaign goal, the must-haves, and the deadline, then left to produce.

A small physical-product brand can run the same operating system without an agency. Start by writing your own guardrail sheet: one page, plain language, covering what cannot be said or shown, how the product must appear, and required FTC disclosures. Share it once when you onboard a creator. Then replace the traditional brief with a three-line message: the campaign hook, the asset format, and the ship date. Set up a shared thread in email, Slack, or a group text where you and the creator can trade feedback in real time the day they shoot. Commit to replying within two hours during business days. Green-light concepts the same day. If a creator sends a rough cut at 10 a.m., send approval or one round of notes by end of day. Budget $150–$500 per creator for a static post, $300–$800 for short video, and plan to turn three creators per campaign instead of one marquee execution. Speed matters more than perfection when the content lifecycle is measured in days.

The pattern here is that the workflow determines the result as much as the creative does. Molson Coors didn't hire different creators or change its product. It changed how fast it could say yes. The gain came from removing the structural delays that made relevance impossible. If you can approve faster than your category, you capture moments your competitors miss, and the engagement gap opens from there.

The takeaway
Molson Coors cut approval cycles to 48 hours, let creators execute inside guardrails, engagement rose 4x.

Your next customer won't visit your website. Their AI will.
AI assistants have quietly taken over the first step of buying — they answer from catalogs they can read and shortlist whoever can actually ship. Two questions now decide whether you exist to that buyer: can a machine read your catalog, and can you fulfill the order. Most brands fail one or both and never find out why the orders went elsewhere. The winners of this shift aren't the loudest. They're the most readable. Build for the machine that's about to do the shopping.

Beyond our own Virginia Beach floor, we work with a vetted network of craft manufacturers across the US — each meeting the highest excellence in QC standards in the industry, each a specialist in its own discipline — so apparel, hard-goods imprinting, media manufacturing, packaging, and secure printing all go to the bench built for them, coordinated from one accountable hub.
